Announcing a New Naturalization Index at MyTrees.com!

MyTrees.com has now made it easier for you to find your immigrant ancestors! We've teamed up with Footnote.com to bring you an index of 3.6 million naturalization records. You'll find valuable genealogical information, such as

  • * the immigrant's full name
  • * year of birth
  • * spouse's name
  • * country or origin
The original documents are available, for a small fee, from Footnote.com.

What Records are Included?

This collection includes US naturalization records and indexes from the 1700 to mid-1900s. Types of records available are:

  • 1. Declaration of Intention: The first paper filed by the immigrant, declaring his/her intention of becoming a citizen. It was usually filed within the five years of coming to the US
  • 2. Petition for Naturalization: The second and final paper filed by the immigrant, petitioning for citizenship. This generally was filed at least three years after the declaration of intention, although that was largely dependent on the naturalization laws of the time.
  • 3. Naturalization Certificate: The certificate received by the immigrant, granting him or her citizenship.
  • 4. Indexes: Records kept by the court of immigrants who had been naturalized. Often contains pertinent genealogical information.

Find your ancestors with a more complete search of the Revolutionary War Pension Files Index at MyTrees.com. This new collection, which we bring you in partnership with Footnote.com, represents an addition of 3.5 million records to our indexes. Images of the original documents are available, for a small fee, from Footnote.com.

You may have previously located a pension file for your ancestor, but that doesn't mean you've seen the entire file. Often, these records will be listed as "selected service records." This means that you're not getting the complete file. Instead, you’re getting only those documents which have been identified as the most useful for genealogical purposes. However, the remaining documents still contain information that will probably be of interest to you, including details about the veteran's history and service, his family, state of health, and life after the war.

Footnote.com has made available the full pension files, including significantly more information than the generally selected records. So, even if you've seen your ancestor's pension file, it may be time to take another look.
