Research Interests Forum Entry for MARGARET ELIZABETH WALLACE at ABINGTON, VIRGINIA

Research Interest: Margaret Elizabeth Wallace was born in 1867 in Abington, VA. She died in Greenville, Hunt County, TX in 1939. Her death certificate states that her father's name was John Williams and mother is unknown. This is in error as the person reporting the inf ormation was her late husband's sister who really didn't know Margaret's family. Margaret had several brothers and sisters in Hunt and Rains Counties of TX. I was able to locate a sister named Nancy who married a Tadlock. Her death certificate states she was born in Abington, Virginia and is just a bit older than Margaret. It also lists her parents as William Wallace and Nancy Kennedy of Abington, VA. Margaret is my late husband's grandmother and I am researching this side of the family for posterit y. It was said by my late husband and my late mother-in-law that both Margaret and Nan Tadlock had strong Scottish brogues. Margaret married George Davis McDonald somewhere in TN. It was said the Wallace Family left VA after losing the plantation to b ack taxes after the war when Margaret was a very small girl. They moved to TN for a while. It is not known where William and Nancy Wallace are buried. They are not in the family plots. It is assumed they stayed in TN and the rest of the family came o n to TX sometimes around 1885. This is about the time Margaret married George D. McDonald. This side of the family is difficult to track.
