Research Interest: William Wagner was my Great Grandfather and I am looking for the town in which he was born. He was born in York Co Pennsylvania; but there are 3 William Wagners born in that same area. He had brothers: Henry D., Lucy A., Joseph G. Lucy and Joseph were born in Illinois and possibly so was William as he was born later then they were. He is buried in Mt Clark cemetery in Central City, Linn Co IA.He was married to Mary A. Harkness 9 Nov 1873 in Linn Co, IA. Mary Harkness was born 19 Jul 1852 Bowens Prairie Linn Co IA. She died 5 Jan 1926. William parents were John Wagner and Mary Swartz. Have not been able to find where John is buried (S Dakota or NE). He was born in 1819 in York Co PA. John Wagner's father was born in SAxony GE abou 1785 and so was his father John Wagner born in Saxony GE about 1760. Mary Harkness was a relative of President James Garfield (this is what her obituary said; however, I haven't found how she was related.
