Research Interest: Samuel born in NJ, migrated to PA, then south to NC, up to VA, westward to KY. 1760 a daughter Rachael was born, she and her husband along with with Samuel were taken prisioners by the British and Indians at Ruddles (Riddles) Station in KY and marched t o Detroit. He returned to KY in 1784. I do not have the name of Samuels wives, or information about his imprisionment by the British. His history is confused by hte fact there was a Samuelk, Jr. and another Samuel Vanhook in the same areas at the same time, probably a nephew.Samuel was appointed overseer of a road in NC, 1766. He or his son is listed in the Battle of King's Mountain, and the Cornstalk Militia, also sent with "Clark down the Ohio", these are not facts that I can verify. I am trying to separate his data, from that of his son Samuel, Jr. The children credited to Samuel are: Rachael, 1769; Benjamin, 1771, Samuel, Jr: Abner, 1775; Russell; Archelaus (Archie); Thomas. Information on any of the VanHook and Loveless, would be appreciated, and may help straighten out these lines.
