Research Interest: Thomas and Jeannette were my GreatGrandParents. Alex, Helen, Stella, Louis and Christine were their children all born bet. 1890 - 1910 in Mani, Greece. Stella was my paternal Grandmother. Immigration to the U.S. occured sometime between 1914 - 1925. (at that time my Grandmother was 21 years old.)Stella married Peter PAPPAGIANNIS BOUZOS who owned and operated the Parthenon Cafe in Detroit, and by 1930 had had 2 children; Angelo BOUZOS b. 2-6-1927 and Petroultula Pauline BOUZOS b. 10-3-1929. Sometime arou nd 1930-1934; Peter became the victim of a hit and run ice delivery truck and Stella remarried to a James POULIS who apparantley had some violence issues to deal with that eneiviatably drove him to pick a gun one night and open fire on his new family and in-laws. My GreatGrandmother died from her wounds that night, my Great-Uncle Louis had been wounded in the shoulder and my Grandmother herself, had also been hit. My father remembers the escape from the apartment that night, the next-door neighbor who p rotected them until the police could arrive (Chimes was the surname he mentioned) and that there was a resulting trial that he was called on to testify at and because of his young age caused a media stir-(although I haven't found anything yet....) . I t all must have happened pretty quickly tho as in 1936 I find Stella living at 943 Macomb St. Detroit with her 3RD husband; Nick Mallis who is listed as a barber with a shop in Detroit along with being listed as the owner of his dwelling with spouse (Ste lla). This same directory shows Thomas TAVOULARES a peddler as owning his place of Residence at 943 Macomb St. and also residing there was Alex, renter - Louis, renter and Christine, renter but no occupations listed for any of the siblings. Could somebod y please point me in the general direction of where it is I should start looking if I wanted to find Court Records, transcripts, newspaper accounts and anywhere else that might have made mention of this event? I would be most greatful and am willing to e xchange in kind-If there's anything that I could do for you from here in Southern CA. Besides which I have 2 complete SSI indexes on CD plus the archives and research library CD's of 2 of the most popular genealogy programs on the market today and would be most willing to look up anything that would be of interest to you. This query really means ALOT to me; in more ways than one and again-I will truly appreciate any assistance.
