Research Interest: I have hit a brick wall at full running speed. I am so stuck it isn't funny. I've searched and searched and searched until I can't see the monitor and I can't find a thing on my g.g.g.grandfather. if anyone has any information on these people I would greatly appreciate it. here's what I have. Turner patterson is my g.g.g.grandfather who married a Mary or Polly nowlin. Mary's last name isn't verified as of yet. I have also found a record for Turner Patterson being married to a Martha. Both mar riages took place in Tennessee and I'm not sure if they are the same turner. I have a listing of Turner either being married or born in 1810 Appomattox Co. Virginia. I have googled this one to death and only find a couple of listings with Turner. I ha ve a copy of my g.g.grandfathers marriage certificate William T. Patterson which lists Turner and Mary as his parents but Ithe only record I found was a listing of marriages for wise county virginia on rootsweb.com LDS database lists the following a s children of Turner and Mary or Polly I dont' know if this listing is my turner a susan or susannah b. 1849 Tenn John b. 1833 Tenn Elizabeth b.1833 Tenn Mary b. 1839 Tenn William b. 1847 Tenn Caroline b. 1849 Tenn The database also lists the following as Children of Turner and Martha Patterson as Mary b. 1836 Tenn William N. b. 1837 Tenn Archy b. 1843 Tenn Charles A. b. 1850 Tenn John W. b. 1831 NCar William T. Patterson my g.g.grandfather b. 1837 or 1838 who married Nancy Sergen t on 2/17/1890 in Wise Co. Virginia. certificate signed by clerk J.E. Lipps. Certificate states William's place of birth Davidson Co. Virginia. Occupation as Farmer. William was a widower at the age of 52 when he and nancy got married. He had one chil d from the previous relationship, a Joseph Curtis Patterson b. 8/6/1888 in Tennessee but resided in Wise Co. Virginia. died 2/28/1944. Any other children between William T. and Nancy Sergent are unknown. by me at this time. Joseph Curtis was widow ed to unknown woman 1 child from that relationship shows a William R. Patterson, may have been William Robert Curtis Patterson Joseph Curtis Patterson then married Hattie Stapleton in Wise Co. Virginia. Certificate date states Oct. 18, 1914 but is th en later signed by minister on Oct. 25, 1914. Married by preacher Henry Wells, clerk signed as DA. Mullins. Certificate lists Joseph C. as a Sawmiller. Hattie had 1 child from David Trivet named Rose. Hattie and Joseph Curtis together had Joseph G len Beulah Benjamin Franklin Daniel Carroll Virgin Dorthula John Henry Nancy Ellen Joseph Glen then married Bertha Fleming and they had the following children Jack patterson diane patterson patsy patterson candy patterson my mother li nda patterson I could go on with the rest of the current family but I want to go backwards so I'll stop there. Also, I was told a story the other day and was told joseph curtis only mentioned his father once and that he said his father william t . had left the family with he joseph c. was only 13 or 14 and that at some point william and an unknown brother had stolen a 100 acre farm from him because they were only children. the details of this story are sketchy but my source is also getting older now My 2nd cousin informed me the other day also that his mother told him a story that at some point Hattie asked joseph curtis to go get her some flour to finish cooking breakfast. he left and returned a whole year later but didn't forget t he flour. it is unknown where he went and what possibilities that may hold. If anyone knows of these pattersons please contact me. There are several people in my family trying to hunt this down as my mother is traveling back to virginia and kentucky this October to visit graves, relatives and do some searching. the more info I can give her, the better the trip.
