Evelyn Parker married my gg grandfather Walter McVay in Coffee County, Alabama, according to her son David's death certificate. Census records of 1880 have her listed in Handsboro, Harrison County, MS as Evaline McVay, age 55 born circa 1825 in Georgia,
Father b. in S.C., Mother b. in Georgia with her husband Walter, age 89, b. about 1791 in Georgia, with both his parents born in N.C., son David, 25, b. in Alabama, daughter Mary, 18, b. in Alabama, James, 17, b. in Alabama, Nancy, 8, b. in Alabama, Dav
id's daughter, Lulu, 3, by his first wife, 3, born in MS, and his new wife, Laura Louise Bond McVay, b. in MS. Evelyn Parker McVay died in Orleans Parish, Louisiana, in December 1917 with age stated as about 87 which would have her being born circa 1830
. I have been unable to find her in any of the census except 1880. The same goes for my gg grandfather, Walter, and his children until after 1880. Two additional children, Sarah Ellen McVey note spelling and date of birth b. 10-09-40 died 02-19-1932 mar
ried Fred Switzer and Martha McVey who married a Hurlbert in 1879 had already left the household before the 1880 census. Walter had married a Phoebe Layton Laton in 1830 and a Mary Barber in 1832, both in Georgia. Mary could be Sarah's mother, and I as
sume there were other children that I do not know about. If anyone could help me, I would appreciate it.
