Research Interest: I am looking for information on James KAY born between 1796 and 1801, date of death unknown. James married Elizabeth YATES. James was a Woolen Manufacturer in the 1840 census was said to have employed 14 men. According to Pigot and Company's National Com mercial Directory of 1834, the firm of James Kay and Son, cotton spinners, occupied Millhouse Mill in Rochdale. The known children of James KAY and Elizabeth YATES are William KAY, Priscilla KAY, Jeremiah KAY married Isabella CO UPE , James KAY, Martha KAY, Sarah KAY. Elizabeth doesn't show up in the 1840 Census. Did she die after haveing Sarah In the 1850 Census James is shown with wife Elizabeth could have remarried, she seems to young to be William's mum .
