Research Interest: EDWARD/W. EDWARD. First of all, the reason for the two possible first names is that one family genealogist listed my great-grandfather as Edward but on a handwritten document, it looks to me like W. Edward. An elderly cousin that that W was actually Mr. He was born in New York around 1818. He married Elizabeth Warmington on 4/24/1844, presumably in Ontario but I have no location or birth date for Elizabeth. She was born in Armagh, Ireland to Elizabeth and Lord Richard Warmington. She emigrated to Canada with her widowed mother and six siblings after her uncle tricked her mother out of the family land. Elizabeth and Edward had the following children George fought in the Civil War, Levi, Thomas, Robert, Orilla, Mary Jane, and Helen Marie, my grandmother born in 1862 - not a typo. Orilla was the third wife of my grandfather, Horatio Nelson Mather and Helen was his fourth and last wife. Horatio was 60 when my dad was born and my dad was 55 when I was born so there are a lot of years between just three gen erations. I have not had good luck at all with the Canadian search. I found Helen listed as Maria Hayward in the 1871 census and Robert living with their uncle, James Warmington and Grandmother Elizabeth. It is presumed that Elizabeth and Edward Hayward were deceased but I can't find where they're buried and/or if they emigrated to the US. Horatio and Orilla are listed in the 1880 census living in Flint, Genesee Co., Michigan at which time she was 23 and Helen was also living with them at 17-18 along w ith some of Horatio's children from his second marriage. I even tried to obtain a death certificate for Elizabeth Warmington Beaty who died in 1888 and was told they couldn't find a record of her death. Thanks in advance for any direction you can give me . -Grace
