Research Interest: We really need to figure out which Benjamin J. Harrison this is Any help would be Greatly appreciated. Name Benjamin Harrison. Age 45. Estimated birth year abt 1805. Birth place Virginia. Gender Male. Home in 1850 City,County,State Not Sta ted, Northampton, North Carolina. Page 72, Roll M432_639. Name Benjamin J Harrison. Estimated Birth Year abt 1796. Age in 1870 74. Birthplace Virginia. Home in 1870 Rapides, Halifax, North Carolina. The present hypothesis is that Benja min J. HARRISON is father of John Henry HARRISON. It is believe the following records apply to this man. He was born in Virginia anywhere from about 1796 age 74 in 1870 census to about 1805 age 45 in 1850 census. He was a shoe maker. He was in the 183 0 Northampton County, North Carolina census, probably the Benjamin HARRISON with 3 males under 5, 2 age 5-10, one age 20-30, and one female age 50-60. He appeared for two different years in the Southampton County, Virginia tax lists. The first time was i n 1833 as Benjamin HARRISON, shoe maker. The second time was in 1840 as Benjamin J. HARRISON. He also appeared in the 1840 Southampton County, Virginia census, with two people listed as engaged in manufacturing, probably himself and his son John Henry HA RRISON, both shoe makers. In 1837 he had a second third marriage to Lucy HODGES. Benjamin's son John H. HARRISON witnessed deeds of his in 1836 and 1854. He appeared in the 1850 Northampton County, North Carolina census as a shoe maker with his wife L ucy. The last record found of him in Northampton County deeds is on a sale of land in 1869. His wife Lucy died with the next year, and Benjamin J. HARRISON went to live with his son John Henry HARRISON in Halifax County, North Carolina where they appeare d in 1870.
