Research Interest: His parents were from Denmark, but owned a 160 acre farm in Howard Co. Nebraska, where he was born. He went back to Denmark in 1911 with them. The Germans had taken over the land where their Denmark farm was located at 51 degrees latitude, so they moved north to live with an aunt called Golden Greta who lived in Osterby. In 1912, they moved to a place they improved with a huge house and a pond in Sejerslev, Denmark where his younger brother, Steffen was born in 1913. Andrew learned the carpenter trade on an island on the Baltic Sea, close to Soderborg. He rode the train from Sonderborg to Hojer, which was close to their home. When the war broke out in 1914, his father got him a passport and he returned to the states. He was in Nebraska in May 1916 an d Los Angeles in 1917. This he wrote in his life history on January 1976 and also made a verbal recording. His parents came from Denmark, but he was born in Nebraska. They had a huge farm and his dad had done lots of beautiful carpentry work on the house . They later returned to Denmark, but when Andrew was 17, he returned to the states, when the Germans were taking over Denmark, to seek his fortune in the carpentry trade. He also had a brother Carl who was born in 1910, who lived in Los Angeles in his l ater years. Carl died in California. They had a sister, Amanda, who died in Omaha, Nebraska
