Many researchers have tried for years to locate the parents and place of birth of Benjamin, also known as I.B. , to no avail. Family legend says he may have been descended from one of the Iroquois tribes. He is first found in road assessment records i
n Bedford New York in 1840. He married Mary Elizabeth Keeler in North Salem, Westchester, New York, daughter of Samuel Dauchy Keeler. Benjamin's sister Mary married Mary Elizabeth's brother Smith Keeler. Their mother's name was Mary R. --- Hallett.
Benjamin was a shoemaker by trade. His children were born in and around Katonah and Ellenville, New York. In 1865 he was found in Newman, Douglas, Illinois, then on to Willow Springs and Dry Creek , Missouri by 1871. Other location Connecticut
