I am looking for my great-grandfather's family. I first found him in July 29,1858 in Henry County, Alabama when he married Lucy Ann Phillips. His name is shown as Willis A. Hall. He was supposed to have been born in Georgia in Jan. or July 1837. I ha
ve been unable to locate him anywhere. Family tradition says that he had brothers by the name of David and John and possibly a half-brother by the name of Harmon Heath. W. A. was in the civil war and was captured at Missionary Ridge, sent to Rock Islan
d, Illinois, for the duration of the war. He appears on the 1860 census in Henry County, Alabama as Willis A. Hall with his wife and oldest daughter, Manda Ann E, age 3 months. It states that he was born in Georgia and was 21 years old at the time of th
e census. In 1870 he is in Henry County, Alabama but is listed as Jackson Hall. We know that his is him because of the names of his wife and four children. This census states that he was born in Alabama. On the 1880 census he is in Rusk County, Texas
as Willis A. Hall, age 45, and born in Georgia. In 1900 census he is listed on the Wood County, Texas as W. A. Hall, born in Jan 1837 in Georgia, age 63, married 42 years. He died June 6, 1904 at the age of 68 in Wood County, Texas. His death certifi
cate shows only W. A. Hall. Family tradition states that his father was named John and his father was named John. They were supposed to have been from North Carolina. We have been unable to prove any of this. I am looking for birth information on Wil
lis A. Hall and information concerning his parentage.
