Research Interest: I am researching the Gay surname in GA. and any related families. Especially interested in the parents of Matthew Gay b. 1784 in NC. d. in 1843 in Emanuel Co., GA. in prison. He was serving time for his son who was convicted of man- slaughter. It ha s previously been said his father was Joshua Gay who married Mary Bird. I do not believe this to be the case.
