Research Interest: Valentine Gates is my Grandmother Rosamond Rose Gates McCart's father. Valentine supposedly was from Scotland. They came to Kansas from Ohio. Rosamond's mother died when Rosamond was four years old. The data that was passed down to me says that Valent ine was from Scotland, however, my grandmother spoke German. In fact, she and my Grandfather, Charles Edgar McCart b 1878 d 4 Mar 1950 spoke German to each other all the time - but he was supposedly Scotch/Irish. Rosamond Gates married my Grandfather Charles Edgar McCart in 1903. What I have found so far is that there were many Valentine Gates in Ohio in the 1800s.
