Research Interest: As per land records in 1804, Saratoga, Co.,NY I found that a Samuel wife Ruth Gates transferred land to Noah Gates and wife Abigail. In the Surrogate Records of 1820, Saratoga Co.,NY. Samuels intestate estate was being administered by his son Cole man and the Surrogate had ordered any one with interest in the estate to appear. Four minor children listed as grandchildren of Samuel, and children of Noah who were under guardianship of a local physician appeared. The children were William, Hiram, Ashbell Angelina. Ashbell is my gr gr grandfather. Had Noah my gr gr gr gndfthr been alive the children would have had no direct interest in the estate. I have no knowledge of why he did not appear, possibly had died. I have my lineage from A shbell forward but need more info on his parents and ancestors.
