Research Interest: My great grandfather was Charles A Farthing born Feb 13, 1868 and died Dec 12,1913. Not sure where he was born but was told he might have been from Illinois or in NC. However, he died in Edgewood Tx after a shoot out at a barn dance. He was married to Em mer Florence Edgar she was born Aug 20, 1877 and died Feb 6,1908. Their children were Emma Florence Farthing, don't know when she was born, but she died March 1, 1909. James Jim Farthing, don't know his birth date but death was Nov 7, 1929. He is buried somewhere in the panhandle of Texas. Flora B Farthing born June 21, 1898 and died June 30,1917. Nancy Minnie Bell Farthing born May 28, 1905 died March 1, 1999. Lillie Mae Farthing born Oct 29, 1898 died Feb 16,1972.and Dan Curtis Farthing born May 4, 19 03 died July 12,1971. Nancy Minnie Bell Farthing, Dan Curtis Farthing, Lillie Mae Farthing, Emma Florence Farthing, and Flora B Farthing were all from Wills Point and Edgewood Texas area that is Van Zandt County. I know that Dan Curtis Farthing wa s born in Collin County, Texas. Dan Curtis Farthing married Pearlie Dean Wallace and their children were Jeff Leanders Farthing, born Jan 30, 1923 died Aug 11,1930. Ezia Mae Christene Farthing, don't know her birth date or death date. Opal Margrea Fa rthing born May 3, 1928 and still living in Longview Texas. Dan Curtis Farthing Jr., known as O.D. Farthing, born Dec 11, 1930 and died July 1, 1997. Jeff Leanders Farthing married Joyce Lovern and they had Jeffery Lynn Farthing, and Curtis Ray Farth ing March 1, 1954 and resided in Wills Point, Texas. Jeff is buried in Haven of Memories in Canton Texas, along with Dan Curtis Farthing and O.D. Farthing or Dan Curtis Farthing Jr. . Ezia Mae Christene Farthing lived in Dallas and was married to Jo seph Carmen and divorced and married Harold Stalldories. She has two children, Buford Curtis Carmen who is about 50 years old, and Charlotte Stalldories. Opal Margrea Farthing married A. Norrell and have two children Larry Norrell and Jerry Norrel l. They lived in Dallas till after the children were grown and then moved to Longview Texas where they still live. Dan Curtis Farthing Jr., known as O.D. Farthing, married Nelwyn Jane Phillips Sept 18, 1948 and had Brenda Jane Farthing, born April 1 7, 1951 Linda Joyce Farthing born April 8, 1952 Charles Wayne Farthing born Dec 18, 1954 and Karen Sue Farthing born June 23, 1962. O.D. lived in Wills Point Texas all his life and we all grew up here in this area. My sisters Brenda and Linda live in Edgewood, TX and my brother lived in Garland and Plano Texas area. I live in Wills Point Texas. I do know that my great-grandfather is buried in Barrett Cemetery in Edgewood, TX and belong to some sort of club that put a tree looking tombstone for th eir members.
