Research Interest: Looking for birth information on Phillip Faignan also known as Fayan, Fagnan, Fagyna, my great-grandfather. Born French Canada in a small Indian Village, sounds like Semshalew. Mother died when he was young. This all by verbal history. Father or Unc le's name was Joseph Douglas according to one census document and same document states mother as Ida Livig. May have lived a short time in Fall River, Mass. as a child by verbal history and worked in a mill. Married in Duluth, Minn., Married Amelia Trul son of Eagle, Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. Found info that Phillip entered the US thru Detroit, Michigan in 1889. Phillip and Amelia settled eventually in Kalispell, MT. Philip died in Tacoma, WA and was buried in Kalispell, MT., Their daughters were Jessi e Irene Faignan married Raymond Killingbeck and Hazel married David Stauffer.
