Turner Dodson, son of John Dodson and Cherokee Indian built Dunkard Church in Culpeper or Leesburg owned a gasoline station in Culpeper married Hattie or Hatty Knebel or Gabel in Sperryville,Va. The first known chld was Elmira,born 1889.Turner's f
ather was named John and he ran a ranch or plantation for Governor Brown or Browne this land was later owned by Arthur Godfrey .There is also supposed to be a cemetery in Leesburg where a lot of the Dodsons are buried. One of John's brothers are report
ed to have changed his name to Dotson because of John marrying a Cherokee Indian. Turner had at least 4 wives. The last one was about 40 years younger than him. We believe that he died in about 1949 or 1950. Several family members seem to think he was
