Research Interest: I am trying to find familial info on the Dinegar family. To my best knowledge my ancestors came to USA in or near 1760 from northern France. They were Huguenots. Adam Micael Dinegar are on the rolls of the 1790 US Census in Penn. their father, Edmund duNegre was supposed to have been an officer in the NJ Militia and fought at Trenton and Monmouth. In more recent years my grandfather Charles P Dinegar was a NY City detective. He was awarded the Police Dept's Medal of Honor and also the Navy Cross fo r Valor as a result of service between 1909-13. His father Charles W was also a NY City cop in or around the time that NY City was incorporated. I don't have the dob on my great-grandfather, but my grandfather was born in 1890. ny info I can find on ad ditional family members will be sincerely appreciated. Surname may be spelled DUNEGRE.
