Research Interest: My records indicate my father was born around 1909 in Cozad, Nebraska. But, Nebraska records show no records of such a birth. At the time he was born, his mother died, leaving about seven siblings. His father couldn't care for them, so he gave them to a foster mother (Etta L. Weller) around 1910. Over the years, each of the children were "given away" to families that needed extra hands to work. No records were kept. That went on until just my father remained with Etta. Etta was a school teacher in Dawson county and nearby counties. She later married an Armstrong from Nebraska, then divorced and some time later, married a Guy Weller from South Dakota. My fathers full name was Ellis Gerald Decker. If anyone has information regarding a Decker family in that area (Cozad) esp around 1909 or 1910, please contact me.
