Research Interest: John Deas b 1735 Leith Scotland, died 1790 S.C., Married 1759 Elizabeth Allen born 1742, died 1802 prob S.C. Their son was James Sutherland Deas born 1784 Camden Dist. S.C., died 1864 buried Mobile, AL, married 1808 Margaret Rebecca Chesnut born 1786 died 1874, buried Mobile AL. Their son was John Chesnut Deas born 1813 S.C. died 1898 in Mobile, AL, married 1844 Adele Auzi born 1823 Porta Rico died 1884. Their son was James Sutherland Deas born 1849 Mobile, AL died 1920, Mobile, AL married (twice) 1st, Carrie Orline Mobley, 2nd (my great grandmother) 1887 Mary B. Cleveland born 1863 died 1893. Their daughter was Alice Auzi Deas born Suggsville, Clarke, Co. AL. died 1936 in Baton Rouge, LA, married 1919 Raymond Floyd Roberts born 1895 In N.C., died 1962 Their daughter was my mother Margaret Deas Roberts born 1920 Baton Rouge, LA died 1980 in Miami, FL, married Lloyd Thompson Jr. born 1918 in Carthage, TX died 1969 in Morgan City, LA buried in Carthage, TX If any one knows anything about the Manassas Club in Mobile, Al, founded in 1861, I would appreciate any information, I have not been able to find out anything but the name of the club and that John Chesnut Deas was a member in 1862.
