Research Interest: My Mother's father - Anton - was in the German army before WW I and jumped ship in America prior to the war. Granted asylum by President Coolidge personally, he then sent for his sweetheart - Amelia Chappero spelling of Trieste, Italy. They were mar ried ON BOARD a ship before my grandmother was allowed to set foot on American soil. They settled in West Virginia before moving to a few places in Pennsylvania. As a child, I found the name DEAK in a dictionary and it told of a German statesman named DEAK but do not remember anything further. Any help out there
