Research Interest: Looking for information on my gr-gr-grandfather Cato DAVIS b. 1836 in Va. who left from TN for the CA gold rush. My grandfather referred to Cato as a a forty-niner. Said he traveled overland to CA possibly w/some cousins. Cato must have been in the 18 50 California census, but don't know what county. He was crippled after surviving a mine cave-in. Any information on travel route, residences in CA, how long was he there.
