Research Interest: Looking for parents or siblings for John Cruse, born 18 miles from Reading Berks Co. PA in 1761. He served in the Rev. War as a private. His Rev War pension application stated he was orphaned at a young age and was raised by relatives. I'd like to li nk him with Jacob Cruse, a miller listed in the 1767 tax list at Colebrookdale Township, whom I believe could have been his father. John Cruse named one of his sons Jacob. The wife of John Cruse is unknown, but I believe they may have had a large famil y. Two sons are known- Jacob and Augustus. Augustus born in 1806 at Frankstown, Huntingdon now Blair Co. PA. His obit says he was raised Roman Catholic. He married Elizabeth Rench, a Dunkard. They moved to Piqua, OH after 1837. They are my ancestors. John Cruse was said to have fathered at least one son with the last name of Crawford in the early 1830s did not marry the mother John Cruse died at Frankstown, PA 28 Apr 1837. His son Jacob's family remained there.
