Research Interest: I am trying to establish the birth place of Solomon Crawford, my 4th great grandfather. Came to Conecuh county Alabama from Georgia in the early 1820's, With wife Rebecca Stevens (widow). Believed to have married in 1805 in either North Carolina or Ge orgia. Land records show that he participated in the Georgia Land Lottery in 1817. I think his name may have been William Solomon Crawford, but not definate. Solomon Crawford found in North Carolina as head of household in 1758. This may have been my Solomon, but again not sure. If it is, then he married later in life a second time and reared a second round of children, which would explain why he died circa 1838 in Alabama and Rebecca lived for another forty years. Does anybody know where Solomon Cr awford came from. I think he may be connected to the David Crawford/Ann Anderson line out of Virginia, as one of his grandchildren was named Anderson, which is a popular name in that line. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
