Research Interest: Cottrell and Simpson My great-g grandmothers name was Susan Lily Cottrell. She was born in Missouri (Lewis County) in 1844. Her fathers name was James Cottrell (b.1813 Kentucky). he had a brother named Peter (b1814-1819 Kentucky). They relocated to Lewis County Missouri sometime between their birth and 1840 when they appear in a census. James married Elizabeth Sipes (b. 1823) their children included Joseph (1841), Susan(1844), John P. 1848. There were other children whose names I do not know. Peter married Susan (?) children Samuel L. 1843, Martha A. 1845, Thomas 1848 James and Peter's Parents were Abel and Rose who were born in Virginia they were in there 60's -70's in 1850. Susan Lily Cottrell, (1844) married Walter Selby Simpson of Lewis County Missouri on January 30 1862. Walter Selby Simpson was born Jan 31st 1839. He was in Sniders Battln' Missouri Calvary July 1862-July 1863. (Confederate). Susan and Walter had three daughters, Amanda(1863MO), Mary Ellen (1872 MO) and Eveyln (1874 MO) Susan (Cottrell), Walter Selby Simpson and family moved to Oklahoma during the land rush, where they lived out there days. Walter Selby Simpsons' parents names were Selby Simpson born ap 1794 in Kentucky. His mother was Amanda Munday born around 1800 in Kentucky.
