trying to trace origins of chamberlin's now in central pennsylvania--specifically, near Shippensburg, PA. Jesse Chamberlin is as far back as I get in the family. He appears in Southampton Twp., Cumberland Co., records as day laborer married to Rebecca
Smith. They were parents to Charles Chamberlin 1824-1892 . There is a Jesse Chamberlain listed in the Lancaster Co. 1820 census as free white male, aged 26-45 years, in a household with two under age 10 and one slave. Is he the same Jesse who marrie
d Rebecca and fathered the cited Charles and others listed as Isaac, William, John, Sophia and Sarah Ann And if so, when/why did he relocate west from Lancaster to Cumberland Co. And what is his origin/lineage
