Research Interest: Nothing is known of CHARLES CAMPBELL's origins. He told two conflicting stories. He claimed to have run away from home at 16, never seeing his family again. Also claimed to have left home to apprentice in Michigan. Either way, he never spoke of paren ts or siblings. CHARLES married and had 5 children. First wife was MARY AUREL SURDAM, daughter of ANTHONY SURDAM and SOPHRONIA SPAULDING. They married 30 July 1873 in Vassar, MI. Children are NORA MAUD, b. 25 April 1874 in Fairgrove, MI, d. 16 June 1 878 in Fairgrove; MYRTLE ESTELLA, b. 19 October 1875 in Fairgrove, d. 15 January 1880 "en route" in Missouri; ALTA MAY, b. 27 September 1877, m. ANDREW CHESTER ROYCE, d. 4 January 1961 in Nephi, UT; CLAUDE ROMAIN, b. 15 May 1880 in Caldwell County, MO, m . ORA PEARL HINMAN, d. 19 November 1903 in Unionville, MI; VERA LAVERN, b. 15 August 1889 in Unionville, MI, m. FREDERICK JOHN GRUNDMAN, d.26 February 1961 in Livonia, NY. MARY SURDAM CAMPBELL died 16 July 1900 in Unionvile, MI. CHARLES then married EMMA WOOD. He stayed in MI for the rest of his days. Looking for any information on the family of CHARLES.
