Research Interest: James Edward Browne is the first or as far back as I had any information of was born in Scotland AD 1741, from a line of the same name, except the spelling has later been changed by dropping the letter e from the Browne. James Edward Browne married A nn Scott Duncan about 1782. The Browne family were Freeholders or Land owners dating back to the Bruce Kings of Scotland and were entitled to prefix Squire , so my father said. The land was inherited, passing from eldest son to eldest son. Their s on William Hanabel Brown was born on the lands near Dumbarton NW of Glasgow on the River Clyde , Scotland, 1786. Married to Mary McGregor. Their son Hanabel Brown was born enroute to America 1814. Married Jane Walters in Miegs County, Tenn.
