Research Interests Forum Entry for NATHAN PURSE BLISS at GENESEE/CHAUTAUQUA/CATTARAGUS COUNTIES

Research Interest: My gg-greatgrand father Nathan Purse Bliss was born June 4, 1812. His Civil War records say Genesee, New York, he had two obituaries, one says Chautauqua County, the other says Cattaragus County. Real confusing. I do not know a township. Also, his ob it says he moved to LaPorte County, Indiana in 1829. I do not find him until 16 April 1843 when he marries Aberillah Haines. His children were: Marion Elisha Bliss (my g-grandfather); George W Bliss; Amanda Claranada Bliss Balliett Wilkinson; Alice G Bliss Fields; Thomas Bliss; James Joseph Bliss; Josephine Mary Bliss Murphy; Alta Jane Bliss. All were born in LaPorte except for Alta who was born in Benton County, Iowa. Nathan moved to Benton County, Iowa around 1860, then Antelope County, Nebraska around 1871. He died December 6, 1886 at Antelope County, Nebraska. I'm looking for any information concerning his parents, brothers, and sisters. I'm presently looking into a Henry Bliss and Samuel Bliss. Both were living in Chautauqua County in 182 0 and had a male under 10 showing on the census. A Henry and Samuel were living in Cass County, Indiana in 1840. I'm trying to find a connection. I would appreciate any help.
