This is my great grandfather, who is listed in the family bible as being born in 1849, but this could possibly be 1848. I am unable at present to go back any further. He married Emma Nicholas in March 1878, but unfortunate she died in March 1883, so it
's possible he married again. In the 1881 census he was living in Calstock, Cornwall, and his birth place was given as Haberton Devon. Any info would be gratefully received
