My great-grandmother, Matilda Bennett was born in Sutton in 1857 and married Mark North, son of Richard North from the area of York in UK. She sailed for Australia on board the ship Abyssinia from Plymouth on 24/3/87 with three children, John aged 9,
Richard aged 7 and Frank aged 4. She remained in Greta, NSW Australia for the remainder of her life and gave birth to another five children. She was the mother of Ellen Jane North, my grandmnother, who married Thomas Higgins Harper in 1914 Their daug
hter, Daphne Jean Harper was my mother.
