Research Interest: John or Giovannie was born in Italy around mid 1820's pressumably in genova somewhere. He sailed to England unsure when Where he met and married my GGGreat Grandmother Mary Ann Bartlett w nee Fowler in 1849. From there I can follow his life, but before then is anyones guess. I have no idea who his parents are , if he went to GB by himself or with family. I could not find him in the 1841 census. I have been told he was hospitalised on arriving to GB with a broken leg , and the ship then sailed off l eaving him behind. He was a ropemaker in Exmouth where he set up home with his wife and future family. He was a real joker apparently Many thanks Katie
