my ggggrandfather, John Barnard, according to my relatives came to the USA with the British army to fight in the French and Indian Wars but the dates didn't match. I found a John Barnard in Kenneth Scott's British Aliens in the United States During the
War of 1812. I also found a John Barnard on Google who fought in the War of 1812. I have not established how he came to the USA or on any roster during the War of 1812.
