Hello I am Gerald R. Armstrong and I would like to ask for your help in solving the mystery of Quinton Armstrong and Mary Catherine Cary. We know that our GGG grandfather George Armstrong, was their child by his death record, but, we believ
e that they were never married and we cannot find anything on the Quinton that fathered him. George was born 12 DEC 1844 died 29 March 1921. There were two dates, which we believe were his death date and his burial date, being only a few days ap
art. He lived most of his life in the Punxsutawney area on a farm in Cloe, Bell township. Which at his time was Canoe creek until the post office came to town. His farm house had to be moved back from it's original foundation due to t
he railroad coming through. Then much later in life, moved to a house in Punxsutawney. The Farm is said to still be in the family but I was told that the current Armstrong descendant owner does not like to speak of any of this, so I have never been
there or contacted any Armstrong there. George made his living as a farmer and a well known carpenter. We believe that he learned this trade from his stepfather, George Long, a German immigrant. Quinton may have various spelling
s, Quentin, Quenton, Quenten, Quintin, Quinton, Quinten, etc. On the death record it was spelled Quinton. The problem is that there were a few of them about the same time frame and area. Obviously cousins, nephews or what ever. George A
rmstrong is buried in a very small and unknown cemetary called Oak Lawn. This cemetary is a about one mile away from his farm, as heading towards Punxsutawney. If there is any way that you could help me out in this perplexing problem I
would be very grateful
