Research Interest: Emma is my maternal grandmother. My mother knows nothing of Emma's family other than she thinks they were of German descent since Emma was able to speak German. I don't know when she left Louisville, but she did wind up in Chicago. A marriage certific ate in 1904 in Chicago Cook County stated her last name at the time was Zillenger when she married Amos William Coleman. I do know that she had three children by Charles Bruning the first was born in 1890 in Chicago--Margaret . Bruning was involved in blueprint/reproduction and was from a wealthy family--Danish, I think. It is possible that Zillenger followed Bruning and then she married Coleman. I have primarily been researching the Coleman family, but my interest also include trying to track my maternal grandmothers family. With regard to the Coleman family, I have hit a dead end with a stone wall with an Archibald Coleman who was born in 1717 possibly Holland or Germany , lived in Massachusetts or New York, and had a son John Coleman, b orn 7-14-1742 in Fishkill, Dutchess County, New York. If you could find anything on Archibald,I would be most grateful. Thank you, Alan Nelson
