Research Interest: I have been researching the history of my grandmother Susan Marie Alvis. She was known as Marie Alves in the 1930 Census Records in Henderson Kentucky. Marie Alves September 7, 1921, Anna Alves, and Albert Alves were born in Walnut Bottom Kentucky. The re race was Black and the grandchildren of George and Mary Francis Cabell. It seems that there were two other grandchildren residing with them by the names of Fred Cabell and George F. Gneen. I can't quite make out Georges last name. My grandmother an d her siblings became orphans. Brother Albert ended up in Detroit Michigan, Now deceased. Anna continued to live in Baymond Kentucky, also dececsed and my Marie lived in Chicago, Illinois and East Chicago, Indiana. She had children born in Chicago. She began to spell her last name Alvis and not Alves. She was born September 7 1921 and passed November 5 2001. The same day her daughter Patricia Smith-Blue Passed in 1995 in East Chicago In, at St. Catherines Hospital. I remember right before she passed s he talked about her father Van Alves who was a chaplin, passed in Florida. Marie's Mother died after Anna. There mother's name was Susie Cabell-Alves. Marie married twice that I know of. First son Dennis was adopted by my grandfather Robert Smith who w as born Dec 10 1923 and Died March 11 1975. With some of the research I have and the distance in our family due to the fact we have no strong family history, I would like to gather this information for my sense of self. Please help me find my true family . I have more information as well. I have gathered pictures so I can start my tree. - Susan Collier
