Research Interest: My Grandparents Rufino Vega and Florentina Alonso originally from Santa Cruz de Aller Oviedo, Spain and San Miguel de Quilare en Llordal Oviedo, Spain came to the US abt. 1914. They lived in Langlouth, Pennsylvania and also Clarksburg, West Virginia as their first three children, Julio, Jose, and Casimiro were born there. Two of their next three children, Manuel and Anita were born in Moundsville, West Virginia. The other, Isabel was born in St. Louis, Missouri. The rest of their children, Rufino, Jesus, Emilio, Silverio, Anita, and Maria were all born in Canton, Ohio as my grandfather moved to Canton to work at the new Timken Company Steel Mill about 1920. He worked there until 1952 when he retired. He also farmed during the 20s and 30s when work was slow at the steel mill. I also believe my grandmother's parents, Manuel Alonso and Teresa Fernandez Alonso lived in Langlouth for awhile eventually living in Fontana, California. Also, THERESA.
